在發(fā)布Firefox 59穩(wěn)定版的同時(shí)，Mozilla同時(shí)也在積極推進(jìn)下個(gè)版本的更新。Firefox 60是“Quantum”系列的最新開發(fā)版本，在進(jìn)一步提升性能的基礎(chǔ)上更加注重用戶隱私的保護(hù)。新版本中引入了更多的隱私保護(hù)功能：當(dāng)用戶面部沒有出現(xiàn)在網(wǎng)站錄制的時(shí)候Firefox就會(huì)自動(dòng)關(guān)閉計(jì)算機(jī)的網(wǎng)絡(luò)攝像頭，雖然攝像頭依然處于可用狀態(tài)但可以確保這些網(wǎng)站不會(huì)記錄到你。

­　　當(dāng)你回來恢復(fù)之后攝像頭會(huì)繼續(xù)重新工作。當(dāng)遇到一些奇葩的網(wǎng)站私下調(diào)用攝像頭并且不啟動(dòng)攝像頭上的指示燈的時(shí)候，F(xiàn)irefox會(huì)強(qiáng)制開啟攝像頭指示燈，以提醒用戶確保設(shè)備依然正在進(jìn)行錄制。

­　　Mozilla在版本說明初版中寫道：“當(dāng)網(wǎng)站想要靜默調(diào)用你的攝像頭的時(shí)候Firefox現(xiàn)在可以自動(dòng)關(guān)閉攝像頭，這樣用戶就能從攝像頭燈來判斷網(wǎng)站是否存在擅自啟用攝像頭的情況，在攝像頭燈關(guān)閉之后用戶不再需要關(guān)心網(wǎng)站是否依然還在進(jìn)行錄制。當(dāng)錄制恢復(fù)的時(shí)候這些燈會(huì)重新亮起來。”

­　　為了改進(jìn)登陸安全，F(xiàn)irefox 60還將支持網(wǎng)頁授權(quán)，允許用戶使用USB令牌來對(duì)用戶喜愛的網(wǎng)站進(jìn)行認(rèn)證。此外，F(xiàn)irefox 60還支持IT管理員通過全新的策略引擎在企業(yè)環(huán)境中自定義Firefox部署。

­　　Firefox 60中，Mozilla還新增了一些全新的開發(fā)者功能：包括此前承諾的IndexedDB交換，以及明確控制某個(gè)網(wǎng)頁是否應(yīng)該重新加載，這項(xiàng)功能已經(jīng)通過 Responsive Design Mode進(jìn)行部署。

­　　Firefox 60有望于2018年5月9日上線，目前已經(jīng)發(fā)布了Beta 3版本，用戶可以下載GNU/Linux，Windows和macOS系統(tǒng)版本。Firefox 60將會(huì)成為Mozilla的下個(gè)ESR（擴(kuò)展支持版本）分支，替代目前的Firefox 52 ESR系列，這就意味著該版本將會(huì)棄用舊版的附件組件。Firefox 52 ESR將于2018年8月28日停止支持。
